Algonquin Capital helps women and children fleeing violence during COVID-19

The covid-19 pandemic has changed the world around us. Our new friends at Algonquin Capital understand that along with the health crisis, gender-based violence has escalated, creating a double pandemic for many women and children. To support the community, Algonquin Capital has donated $20,000 to support women and children seeking refuge at The Redwood.

Algonquin Capital is passionate about ending gender-based violence and supporting victims and survivors of abuse and assault. The team became aware of The Redwood’s work through Victim Services Toronto, where one of the founders of Algonquin volunteers as a crisis counselor.

The Redwood is overwhelmed by the kindness of these community heroes. Algonquin Capital’s generous gift will ensure that women and children can continue to receive life changing and life-saving services in our emergency shelter, and that women living with violence in the community can reach a trained Redwood counsellor 24/ 7 by text, live chat or our crisis telephone line.

Thank you, Algonquin Capital!
